We live in a society where we create much of our stress by rushing through life. We try to get to the next project by pushing ourselves past our limits or packing on more duties and responsibilities to gain more from our jobs or to acquire more possessions.
This does not discount the catastrophic events that also happen in our lives, but it does imply we must examine the stress that comes from our own lofty expectations. We try to make a twenty-seven-hour day fit into a twenty-four-hour day. Since that is impossible, it becomes stressful. The stress affects how well or not well we live and feel. Sometimes, we forget that we are not machines that don’t need to be replenished. We must take care of ourselves the way we take care of everyone else and everything else.
